Bevel gear geometry in the first stage can produce right-angle (90-degree), obtuse angle, or other shaft angle configurations depending on application requirements. Spiral bevel tooth forms are standard - providing smoother engagement and higher load capacity than straight bevel alternatives. Typical efficiency is 96-98% per stage, significantly better than worm gearboxes at equivalent ratios, meaning lower heat generation and better energy efficiency in continuous-duty applications. Power ratings extend from fractional kW in compact units to several hundred kW in large industrial models. Flange, foot, shaft, and torque arm mounting configurations are available. The combination of right-angle output with helical efficiency makes bevel helical gearboxes the standard choice when worm gearbox efficiency or thermal limitations are unacceptable in the application.
