Deep Groove Ball Bearings

The most versatile bearing type - supports radial and axial loads at high speeds with minimal frictional torque.

Overview

Deep groove ball bearings are the most widely produced and most broadly applied bearing type in industrial engineering. Their name refers to the deep, uninterrupted raceway grooves in both inner and outer rings - which, combined with spherical ball rolling elements, creates a contact geometry capable of supporting both radial loads and axial loads in both directions simultaneously. The deep raceway geometry allows higher axial load capacity than equivalent shallow groove types under combined loading. Low frictional torque at high rotational speeds makes deep groove ball bearings the first choice for electric motors, gearbox shafts, pumps, fans, and any application requiring high-speed operation with acceptable temperature rise. Sealed variants incorporate non-contact or contact rubber seals packed with grease at assembly - eliminating the need for external lubrication in normal service conditions. Available in open, single-sealed, double-sealed, single-shielded, and double-shielded configurations. Standard internal clearances (C3, C4) accommodate thermal expansion in applications with significant temperature differentials between inner and outer ring. Stainless steel, ceramic ball, and food-grade greased variants support specialist applications in corrosive, high-temperature, clean, or food-contact environments. Deep groove ball bearings are specified across virtually every industrial machine: electric motors of all sizes, gearbox input and output shafts, pump impeller shafts, centrifugal fans, conveyor rollers, machine tool auxiliary spindles, and automotive components. They are the universal starting point for any bearing selection and the most commonly stocked bearing type in any maintenance department.
